DREAM POLICE #11 – Review
Publisher: Image Comics
Art: Sid Kotian
Writing: Micheal J. Straczynski
Sharing a title with one of my favorite rock songs this title can easily be overlooked as cliche, but for the love of everything that is nerd pick this one up. With a very interesting twist on an already done plot-line, the Dream Police will make you literally think twice before you lay down to sleep at night.
First of all you can’t go wrong with Michael J Straczynski in the bylines. To say he is a heavy hitter in the Hollywood scene is an understatement. With art by Sid Kotian that matches the gritty and surreal nature of the story this title has all the makings to be one of image comics premier titles.
In this issue all things are coming to the proverbial head as Dream Police Joe Saturday not only figures out his origins has a dream detective but figures out the underlying plan of the department as a whole. Being trapped in a coma in the real world due to police work going bad he makes for the perfect dream detectives so much so that the dream police are preventing him from waking back up to return to his waking life. To make matters worse the one of the members of the order of nightmares has gone mad from his tasks of seeing virtually every terror known and as a result becomes ultra powerful and risks infecting the entire Dreamscape thus dooming the entire waking world to nightmares every time they sleep. Sounds like detective Joe Saturday is about to get some mandatory overtime! If you don’t pick the title up then turn yourself into the authorities!
