The Complete Tales From the Con – Review

This is a fun take on Con-life. Tales From the Con includes anyone from the fangirls, fanboys, cosplayers, retailers, volunteers and the pros. It shows how those worlds mix and merge on the convention floor as well as beyond. It truly shows that conventions are one part festival, two parts group therapy!
This is a large – seriously large – collection of one to two strip panels pertaining to what happens at cons (there are a few full page ones too). It does require some talent to fully make a joke stand on its own in one image. There is no story line to follow, which I find a bit sad as I thought the comic would be more story based. It is not bad by any means but I had other expectations I think. You also need to be in the know for some of the more obscure jokes as not everything is as straight forward as you’d expect. It does take on the classic comic heroes such as Batman, Spiderman, Deadpool, Wonderwoman, Hulk,… And it also takes on franchises such as Star Wars. It also talks of those characters outside of conventions, just in regular day to day settings.
It is overall quite fun and you can pick it up and read whenever because it is a fast read. There is also a small bio at the back of Brad Guigar, Chris Giarrusso, Scoot McMahon and Jim Demonakos.
I would say overall a nice comic to pick up and read on the way to your next convention. You’ll see that you are not alone in sharing those thoughts and ideas on a convention floor.
A must for all con-goers!
