D23 Aimed to Wow Star Wars Fans
As you all know D23 is the time of the year to see all the new things that Disney has in store for us. And this year Star Wars fans were not to be left disappointed! We got to see a wonderful huge scale model of the upcoming Star Wars land and it looks breath taking! It has everything you could dream of. The sheer size of it is a lot more than I had ever dared hope. The planet is yet to be named but it looks to be a relatively dense wooded area. There are many buildings and locations where you can spot a life-sized X-wing, a TIE Fighter and A-Wing. In the photographs you can even spot a teeny tiny BB-8. It is said the location will have a sort of continuous type of live entertainment with actors milling around the place.
Now we all know the place will be packed at any given moment with park visitors which will invariably take away from the whole experience. Ideally, to me that is, I would want to walk there alone with the actors bringing the location to life. I bet then you can really feel like you are on a planet somewhere far, far away. What I also do hope is that the buildings will not be crammed full with souvenir shops, snack bars and restaurants; I hope they will use the technique I have seen at the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London where shops of Diagon Alley just have window displays but aren’t real. I feel I’d rather fall for an illusion of an occupied building rather than having to see 50 gift shops in the location.
Other than that it seems wonderful, and I hope that I will have the chance to travel from Belgium to see it for myself when time comes. I truly feel it will be worth the travel. Not only for the entire location but for the announces Millenium Falcon ride they will create as well. In a way a lot of people are against the Disneyfication of Star Wars but I feel this is the only way we will be gifted with such wonderful attractions unless there is a fully dedicated Star Wars theme park coming somewhere… I do, however, hope they will have some sort of ticketing/visitor system in place so that the environment is not packed to the point of having to stand still all the time. I feel it will have to be avoided at the beginning of the land opening its doors simply for the relentless crowds. See here is a moment I wish I was somebody interesting to get invited to a special preview with hardly anyone there! Also if memory serves me right, there ought to be a hotel in the midst of this, yes and more yes to this! I would love to just live in the location for a few days! I cannot wait to see what the final outcome of this will be and if we are rightfully excited for the duration!
I am already looking to pack my bags to go have a look!
