Aubrey Sitterson’s SCARLETT’S STRIKE FORCE Has Been Cancelled by IDW Publishing
We’re getting word via an interview with BC that the upcoming SCARLETT’S STRIKE FORCE has been cancelled by IDW Publishing with issue #3, and this is before issue #1 has even been released. From the interview:
Unfortunately, IDW told me early this month that Scarlett’s Strike Force was being canceled after issue #3. And with up through issue #4 already written, that means ending on a pretty outrageous cliffhanger. It’s really disappointing, not only because fans won’t get to see the conclusion of the story and all the payoffs we’ve been building to — including Grand Slam’s — but because of all the gorgeous work from Nelson, Ilias, Ryan and Taylor that we’ve all been robbed of.
While Sitterson denied this move stems from the controversy that surrounded the writer’s September 11th Twitter fiasco citing poor sales for the publisher’s decision, it kind of makes you wonder.
Where this leaves the ongoing G.I. Joe portion of IDW recently created shared Hasbro Comic Universe is yet to be known. Issues #1-3 are still available for pre-order, and Sitterson suggested that big sales for those issues may save the title, but it’s unlikely at this point that IDW would change their minds on this one.
We’ll have more on this as it develops, and listen to out Hasbro Comic Book Universe podcast INSTRUMENTS of DESTRUCTION for in-depth analysis and commentary on this story.
