Join the amazing creators that are featured in this UK based anthology geared towards supporting and inspiring children with long-term illnesses. With creative titles like “The Bike Force”, “The Flying Halfpennies”, and “Totally Beast”, Little Heroes has something to offer everyone willing to contribute towards this charity geared comic. Each story is featured around the theme of “Strength” so you can be assured that each story packs a strong message.
Being my first anthology to review from any Indie Creator (or group of Indie Creators as it were), my personal format has to be tossed out the window completely. I will, instead pick just a couple stories that I felt were the highlights and perhaps you too will be inspired to contribute to this noble anthology or future anthologies like this one.
One story I found to be particularly cool was the “Totally Beast” story. The artwork for this 10-page short story is also featured on the cover. The story tells of the power of one’s own imagination. One child seems to have it come naturally as their friend struggles with their own efforts. The resolve is the result of the imagination of the 2nd kid growing out of control and their combined efforts to defeat the runaway imaginary fiend created.
Another featured story titled simply as “Strength” tells of the writers’ friends that shows strength that isn’t a physical one. It’s one of compassion as they care for a dog in need. The story is only two pages long, but carries its message loud and clear that strength can come in many forms.
I really was delighted to read this comic, and to be able to share it with my children as well. I have 4 children, and each of them had their own favorites, and created an opportunity to discuss those whom this comic is supporting. Each comic sold went towards distributing comic kits to children in need of long-term care. You can read more about this and the kits that are created for the children at their website www.littleheroescomics.co.uk/the-kit/ . I would definitely support this comic if at all possible as the cause is noble and very real. Help the “little-guys” of comics support the “little-ones” and send em some love and perhaps chip in to show that strength can come in many forms. For some its muscles…for others it can be as simple as a dollar spared to help others in their own fight.
