Previously the stepbrothers galore Eric and Woody are fighting with each other worse than ever. Woody found out that Eric had been lying to him about the truth concerning his biological father. Now we all know Woody wasn’t wrapped too tightly already. This sent him over the edge. He has teamed up with Negative One and captured Quantum. They are on their way to the land down under to meet this mysterious benefactor. The benefactor promises that he can fix it so Eric and Woody will never have to Klang again. The adage goes if something sounds too good to be true it most certainly is, but Woody is always looking for a shortcut. This is sure to end badly. I’m sure Eric would agree with me.
Daniel Kibblesmith writes another chapter in the bizarre tales of Quantum & Woody. There was something missing in this issue for me, however. The previous issues of this run had me rolling on the floor laughing. This one not so much, it was nevertheless an enjoyable read. I guess we can’t laugh all the time.
Kano did another fantastic job tackling the artistic chores on this issue of Quantum & Woody as well. Just a perfect pick for an illustrator to be in this title. Kano puts just enough of an adult swim style cartoony feel into this book to mesh perfectly with Daniel’s writing.
Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of bizarre moments in Quantum & Woody #4. It’s just that in previous issues the comedy was non-stop.These two are my favorite pairing since the original Archer & Armstrong in the 90’s Valiant days.
