Get your stinking paws off my comic, you damn dirty ape! What a great concept is Kong on Skull Island meets the Planet of the Apes. What a great adventure this is so far and it seems to take place on the PoTA timeline right after the original 1968 movie. Issue #2 opend with Dr. Zaius, Cornelius, Zira, General Urko and his army reaching the shores of Skull Island. The action is all around our simian crew with all the natural dangers of Skull Island. This series is just the tip of the iceberg as BOOM! Studios has a year long celebration planned for the 50th Anniversary of Planet of The Apes.
Ryan Ferrier writes this incredible tale and does a bang up job. I thought this was a great read and I can’t wait to see what happenes next. Plenty of action, intrigue and mystery in this story if you’ve ever been a fan of this franchise you need to read this book.
Carlos Mango illustrates this book with a hand from Alex Guimaraes on colors. This book wowed me artistically, looks incredible, and you feel like you’re there on the island with the apes. Completely floored me what a great job they did on this book. I think Carlos should be the only one to illustrate an Apes title from this day forward. So says the Lawgiver!
Happy Anniversary to the Planet of The Apes and what a way to kick it off. It doesn’t officially start until January 2018, but since this is a 6-part mini series the halfway mark isn’t until the first of the year. As a huge fan of these characters I can’t wait to see what happens between our apes and The Ape. This should be very interesting no matter what happens and the team on this series have knocked it out of the forbidden zone, please check it out for yourself and tell us what you think of Kong on the Planet of The Apes.
