Previously, the traitor Bruto contacted the bounty hunters, and put a price on the new emperor’s head, Aric of Urth. Shanhara is captured by these bounty hunters, leaving Aric alone. All of Gorin hates him right now. He realizes he has no need to wear the crown. This isn’t him. He’s a warrior, a defender, even a liberator. King, or emperor X-O, is unsuited for that. This issue was so action packed I thought it was a double-sized issue. Much like yourselves, I was left hanging at the end of the last issue, let me tell you this next chapter didn’t disappoint.
Matt Kindt scripted this book, and it’s on fire. Each arc of this run has been building up to something big, and the way Matt has been writing this series, it should be epic!
Ryan Bodenheim (A Red Mass for Mars) illustrated this book, and he’s also the new series artist since this new arc started. He had a hand by the very talented Andrew Dalhouse on colors. The tones, art, and color have lightened since the last arc. I think Ryan did a bang up job on this issue. Such a great flow to this book, and the attention to detail was great.
There’s one thing I look forward to, it’s an action-packed issue of X-O Manowar. I’ve appreciated this character since the 90’s. I think we haven’t seen anything yet as far as Aric & Shanhara are concerned. Check out the available covers for this issue and preview some interior pages too. Upward and onward X-O Manowar #13 is on shelves now get yours today!
