Kevin Feige Responds to James Cameron’s Comments
James Cameron has been getting a ton of flack in the nerd community lately following an interview with IndieWire last week, where he is quotes in saying:
“I’m hoping we’ll start getting Avengers fatigue here pretty soon. Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process.”
This has prompted a lot of people to call out the Oscar-winning director’s hypocritical statements with pointing out the fact he is rebooting Terminator, a franchise who’s last 3 movies have cause as much “fatigue” for a franchise as any of the MCU films. As well as the fact that he has 4 more sequels to Avatar, a film who’s only grace was lost as soon as it hit DVD and you realize that without the breathtaking 3D effects, was mediocre at best.
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios has finally responded to James’ comment in an interview with Comicbook.com, stating, while grinning and pumping his fist:
Uh, he loves the movies! That’s awesome! Wow, James Cameron loves our movies! That’s exciting!?”
Kevin has a way of seeing the silver lining in criticism, and goes on to saying that he is aware of the possibility of franchise fatigue and that’s why they’ve been trying to stretch into different genres lately, especially after the success of comedic buddy flick Thor: Ragnorok, and states that he is quite the fan of the horror genre. Which could mean that we may finally be looking at a Blade reboot and Midnight Sons movies making their mark on the MCU in the near future after the promising game changer that is the upcoming Infinity War as well as the so far untitled Avengers 4, which will be a direct sequel to Infinity War.
