Greg Berlanti Pushes Doom Patrol with Geoff Johns and Jeremy Carver
In the wake of the Titans announcement, Greg Berlanti slates a new superhero drama following the Doom Patrol. Jeremy Carver is set to write the series based on the DC characters originally written and drawn by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.
Doom Patrol is the story of outcast heroes Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). Tragic accidents left them superpowered, disfigured, and traumatized. Finding their purpose through, The Chief, this rag tag bunch explores the unexplained phenomena to protect a world that turned their backs on them.
Doom Patrol will be an hour long, 13 episode live action series that picks up after the events of Titans. The team find themselves in a difficult position when Cyborg gives them a life-changing mission they can’t refuse.
The Doom Patrol will appear in the fifth episode of the Titans series. According to Deadline, Narcos star Bruno Bichir will play Dr. Niles Caulder. The Hollywood Reporter shows Bichir will be joined by April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, Jake Michaels as Robotman and Dwain Murphy as Negative Man.
Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) will executive produce with Geoff Johns (Titans), Berlanti and Berlanti Prods’ Sarah Schechter. Berlanti Productions produces in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Doom Patrol joins an extensive lineup of DC productions including Titans, Swamp Thing, animated half-hour adult comedy Harley Quinn, and Lois Lane-Lex Luthor story Metropolis. Doom Patrol begins production this year and shoots for a 2019 premier release.
Doom Patrol will only be found on the DC Universe streaming service.
