Leto’s Joker to Get His Due in a Solo Movie
Tonight, Warner Brothers announced its newest addition to the DCEU in the form of Jared Leto‘s Joker receiving his own spin off movie. Leto has been very vocal about his displeasure towards Suicide Squad director David Ayer having cut around 90% of his scenes from the film’s final product. Well it seems that WB is looking to make things right with the actor by making him the star of his own flick.
Leto‘s performance was met with incredibly mixed to negative reactions both when the character design was initially released, and for his performance in Suicide Squad, which prompts the question as to why they want to spend and entire movie on a character that they initially didn’t spend 5 minutes on in his first appearance?
No details are available yet as to the plot or placement in the DCEU‘s timeline, but WB does want to make it clear that they are still going forward the the Joker origin movie they had already announced last year with director Todd Philips at the helm. Phillips’ movie will not be part of the overall DCEU and will be in it’s own stand alone “origins universe” that WB also plans on expanding.
