To the Bat-Poles, Archie! This story is my childhood come to life! I could so see this becoming a DC Animated feature film. There was nothing about this book that I didn’t like except waiting an entire month for the next issue. The last issue was a great set up for this story to meld these two universes. After all, Batman just doesn’t leave Gotham for no reason. That reason is when a cry goes out from help and catches the Batman’s pointy ears it’s off to the rescue the caped crusaders go. This is just a fun all-ages story that everyone will enjoy.
Jeff Parker and Michael Moreci captured the fun campy feel of the old Batman ’66 TV series and the Archie cartoons from the 70’s. I’ve enjoyed their writing prior to this series and do so even more on this run. Jeff and Michael are the perfect storytellers for this mini-series. I’m looking forward to their next issue already.
The art team on this book was Dan Parent on pencils, J. Bone on inks and Kelly Fitzpatrick breathing life into the colors. These three musketeers of the comic book industry make the perfect team to bring these images to life. Speaking of art the covers on just the first two issues are just incredible! Retro and action-packed is what Dan J. Bone and Kelly deliver here as well as the other artists that lent their talents to the covers.
All in all, if you’ve ever read an Archie comic or watched Batman ’66 you’ll love this book! I may be biased because I’m such a Batman fan and grew up watching the late great Adam West, but this series is great! Batman”66 meets Archie issue #2 is on store shelves now. Pick yours up today and remember to keep it geek.
