The most impressive team launched this year! Now, I may be slightly biased since I grew up on reruns of the original TV series not to mention their animated series. My two favorite heroes outside of the dynamic duo. You say you’re not into westerns? I say this book will change your mind real quick! This issue is almost non-stop action from cover to cover. Last issue the Ranger found out about the dirty low down rich scoundrels had teamed up with a local politician to steal land from the ranchers. Anyone who fought back was brutally murdered by the hired guns from the ranch that headed up this nefarious plot. As you can imagine this didn’t sit well with the Lone Ranger. At the end of the first issue, he and Tonto are re-acquainted so to speak, as he begs for his help since there’s no way he can take on these forces alone. This story takes place very early on in his career as the Lone Ranger. This might end up being the definitive Lone Ranger series.
Mark Russell is writing this series and he’s killing it! I’m not sure how many issues he had planned out before issue one hit the stands last month, but if this issue is any indication I’ll look forward to each and everyone. I see this as a year one in the life of the Lone Ranger. Now if that’s the case in future issues we may get a glimpse of flashbacks from his origin to fill in the gaps. In either case, Mark has done a great job with the early goings in this series and you can expect great things from him in the issues yet to come.
Bob Q has tackled all the artistic chores on this book. Pencils, inks, colors you name it Bob is firing on all cylinders on this title! This is the best looking western title since Hex pre-new 52. I was just floored that he did everything himself, artistically speaking of course. This is the best the Lone Ranger has ever looked in comic book form. I just hope Bob remains on this title for the long run.
If you’re a western fan this is definitely the book for you! Hey even if you’re not a western fan generally speaking this title is packed with action, suspense and mystery as well. I have highly recommended this book since I read the first issue and I’m pleased to say that hasn’t changed. Lone Ranger number two is on shelves now, get your copy today. As always please remember to like, comment, share and Keep it Geek!
