This is the Game We Should Have Right Now! LIFE IS STRANGE #3 (Review)
Writer: Emma Vieceli
Artist: Claudia Leonardi
Publisher: Titan Comics
The Life is Strange comic book series from Titan Comics continues in Dust Part 3, and did not disappoint. It picks up right where part two ended and we are once again thrust into the “what happened after” Chloe and Max left a devastated Arcadia Bay. Max keeps experiencing time jumping and this time is able to let Chloe see glimpses of what’s going on too. But her time jumping is having serious serious consequences on her body and she passes out waking up in Chloe’s bedroom that is basically a wreck. Chloe and Max thought Max’s problems would disappear once they went back but sadly that was not the case.
This comic series continues to draw readers in, whether you were a player of the games or not. The graphics just keep getting better and plot wise I never want it to end. This is the game we should have right now, but, sadly, it’s just a comic series. What I found interesting about Part 3 is that it sort of explores things on more a sci-fi level adding some Doctor Who elements of time travel that the series is known for but this time Chloe is along for the ride. Emotionally I love seeing these characters again but I hate seeing post-tornado Arcadia Bay and just what has happened to some of our favorite characters. I won’t spoil things but you will want to keep reading -trust me. I am almost sad that next issue will be the end of this four-part series and I am dying for more.
What’s good is that each issue is very easy to get through and the writing is still very much spot on. If you have been keeping up with the comic series until now you are probably wishing we would see this come to life as a game or spin-off episode. While it explained that this is just one possibility (save Chloe or Arcadia Bay) it is not the 100% final ending to Life is Strange as you will find out when you read this specific issue and get to the end. I sincerely hope this Max and Chloe can finally get their happy ending and the past can stay where it is and not continue to haunt them. Hopefully, we get some answers in Part four when it comes out. Great job, Titan Comics, and please continue the series in this form!
Score 8/10: Continues to hit you on an emotional and psychological level that Life is Strange is known for. You will never want it to end.
