Vive Les Nine and Nora Cosplay
Nine and Nora Cosplay
Vive Les Reines
In our next pursuit to find new and talented cosplayers from around the world, we travel to France to meet Nine and Nora, two beautiful all-female cosplay duo. Each with brown hair, brown eyes and a model’s body that France can be proud of. They are a walking treasure and a royal treat. We love playing their share of playing video games, in which they are convinced is the reason for getting into the cosplay world. Nine & Nora’s favorite games are League of Legends and OverWatch when they find the time to play. Nine and Nora schedules are sometimes hectic with photoshoots or attending conventions, but when they can pull themselves from their busy schedules love the simple life of outdoor hiking and eating all those delicious French cuisines.
For this first time in the history of OutRightGeekery, our exclusive interview with Nine and Nora will be our first time interview, not one, but two cosplayers. This is our chance for our fans to know the real women behind the makeup and behind the outfits. So without further adieu, here now is two of France’s walking treasures and best-kept secret, it’s Nine and Nora with our exclusive interview with them.
Nine & Nora: Hello everyone!
OG: Greetings from the United States of America. I am sorry to say, the only thing I can do good French is, “Omelet du Fromage”, from Dexter’s Laboratory. Thank you so much for doing this interview and I hope Nora will give us a rain check next time.
OG: Nine, are you ready to take OutRightGeekery’s Hot Seat for us and answer our most geeky questions from us?
Nine & Nora: Chouette! For France!
OG: Growing up as a young girl, how did you meet each other? Are you shy or outgoing?
Nine & Nora: We met in school when we were about 10-11 years old. We became very close and best friends. So indeed, we are long-time childhood friends. Otherwise, we’ve always been very shy and withdrawn about ourselves. We often stayed away and were not comfortable with strangers. But growing up, that’s a lot better and now we’re much more extroverted. Then the fact of playing cosplay and attending conventions had a big impact on our shyness.
OG: What was it like growing up in a strict family? Was cosplaying a way of escaping from the childhood/teenage pressures?
Nine & Nora: We both had a very strict family. Besides, most of them are not aware of our passion for cosplay. Since the outfits were not normal-day clothing, this presents a problem. We wouldn’t say that cosplay was a way to escape the pressure of childhood, but rather it was a way to escape a monotonous life. If we didn’t have cosplay, we think our life would be much less attractive.
OG: Do Nine and Nora always cosplay together or do it independently? Have Nine or Nora ever argue about what cosplay characters to create?
Nine & Nora: We’ve never disagreed about the characters’ choices. We’ve always been in the same way about what we wanted to do and what we didn’t want to do. Then if one of us ever wants to do a character solo, she is free to do what she wants. The page is in duet, but that doesn’t mean you have to adapt your cosplays to each other. But we only did cosplays together so far.
OG: As beautiful women, does the body-size of a woman matter (The Height, Bra Size, or weight) when performing a character?
Nine & Nora: It would be hypocritical of us to say that body-size doesn’t count in any cosplay wear. Since cosplay is based on the character’s likeness, it is better if the physique is identical to the character. That’s why we modify our physique according to the costumes: fake breasts, fake shapes, waist strap. And many cosplayers also use false muscles, a false stomach. But on the other hand, your appearance should not make you avoid playing a character!
OG: Have you ever done body paint yourself? How did that go?
Nine & Nora: Yes, we’ve had the opportunity to do it and it was very simple. On the other hand, we found it very difficult and very time-consuming to do. Overall the experience was not bad.
OG: Would you like to be recognized as a cosplay, dancer of an artist or just a businesswoman who happens to be desired among fans?
Nine & Nora: At first, cosplay was just a simple hobby. But now that we are starting to get more popular throughout social media, we’re starting to organize ourselves professionally in hopes our ambitions become enterprising careers. So it’s slow progress with time and our cosplay performances have become part of our lives. Unfortunately, cosplay can’t replace our studies.
OG: What is life like living in France? Is cosplaying, modeling, photography something mainstream over there?
Nine & Nora: It is difficult to answer this question because we do not know how life would be really different from other countries. Except we buy some baguettes at the bakery every week. Otherwise yes, in Paris modeling and photography are very, very common!
OG: What’s been your most difficult/expensive outfit ever? How did you learn how to sew? What sort of sewing machine do you use? Has cosplaying improved your sewing skills?
Nine & Nora: The most technically difficult part was our duo Mia and Hatshepsout from Civilization Online. And the most expensive was our cosplay of Ahri popstar and generation, because of the synthetic fur of the tails.
OG: How did you get your cosplay name, Nine & Nora: Cosplay?
Nine & Nora: The name Nine & Nora: was found at random. We wanted something short, names that look alike. Even if before we had another name but we changed it to “Nine & Nora:”.
OG: If there’s any place you would love to do a photoshoot on location?
Nine & Nora: YES! There are a lot of different places. For example in a waterfall. That would be great.
OG: When wearing your outfit, you painstakingly created, how does it make you feel? Is it sexy? Cute? Accomplished or Frustrated? Does it make you feel powerful and dominating?
Nine & Nora: When we wear our costumes, we are proud of ourselves and we show it. Because these costumes have required a lot of work, but it is a labor of love. It gives us a chance to pay tribute to any fans who love the character we are portraying. Depending on the character we are wearing at the time, we could feel powerful or beautifully sexy.
OG: Are all your photos taken by photographers or yourself?
Nine & Nora: Most photos are taken by photographers or friends of ours. But in any case, we always work with photographers with whom we get along well both creatively or who artistically inspire us.
OG: As a popular cosplayer/model, do you any forms of exercise to keep yourself tone and balance? Or is it all-natural? What do you do to keep yourself in shape? When people meet you for the first time?
Nine & Nora: We don’t do any particular exercises and the best part of being us, we eat whatever we like! But I do a lot of hiking, and Nora does dance. We sometimes do some sports but nothing any particular one.
OG: Are there new outfits you are developing right now?
OG: What sort of advice you can offer new and inspiring cosplayers/models out there?
Nine & Nora: In our opinion, you should not hesitate to get involved in something you are passionate about. In cosplaying, no matter how much or little experience you have in crafting, sewing, or whatever it is the experience that one learns and progresses. Unfortunately, doing cosplay, Nora and myself, often tend to neglect our health and don’t get enough sleep. Take time to get enough sleep, finish your cosplay outfits early, and please eat prior, during and after each cosplay event.
Time we ask Nine & Nora: Cosplay to play our, “So-Far OutRight Just-Geeky questions!”
OG: What sort of myth about French women would you like to dispel to the public?
Nine & Nora: Not all french women are femme fatale nor elegant women 😉
OG: Is David Hasselhoff a real celebrity in France?
Nine & Nora: Yeah, a little bit because he played in Baywatch.
OG: Are you addicted to Nutella?
Nine & Nora: Not at all
OG: What is a baguette? And is it legal to walk through city streets with it?
Nine & Nora: It is a french long bread, of course. In the morning, many people go to the bakery to pick up, so many walk around with bread. (especially in small towns).
OG: Did France invented the French Kiss?
Nine & Nora: It is known as the French kiss because of the French practice it. But it’s real origin is not French.
OG: How does one celebrate July 14th?
Nine & Nora: With lots of fireworks in all the cities of France!
OG: Are the French people very romantic with each other? With tourist? With perfect strangers?
Nine & Nora: Not especially. We think it’s mostly a cliché, but we don’t think the French are any more romantic than foreigners.
OG: Is it true, 70% of the music being played on radio must be played by French artists?
Nine & Nora: Some radio stations must broadcast a certain number of French music. But we don’t know how much. 70% seems a little too much to me.
OG: What do French women really want in their Christmas Stocking this year?
Nine & Nora: Chocolate? Maybe.
OG: Thank you so much Nine & Nora for taking the time to answer our OutRightGeeky questions. Nine, you are officially out of the Hot Seat.
OG: Just one more question. Where can our readers find more about Nine and Nora cosplay?
