Dandy Don the Valiant Review: HIDDEN SOCIETY #2 – Magical Mayhem!
Oh, hey, Mom. Yeah, I’m still staying safe down here in the basement. Yes, I’m still reviewing comics. I just got through reading Hidden Society #2. What’s that? Well, yeah, I guess once you get to a second issue you’re no longer a hidden society. Ha! I feel almost hidden from having to stay indoors because of this pandemic sweeping the world. No, Mom, I am not hiding from washing my dishes, I’ll get to them soon. No, that is NOT what I said last time! Geesh. Sorry about that, OG peeps. Now, let’s get to this week’s Dandy Don the Valiant’s weekly review.
I felt like Dark Horse had another winner on their hands after I read Hidden Society #1, and I still feel that way after reading Hidden Society #2. This series has been cleverly conjured up by Rafael Scavone, and he shows no intentions of slowing down. Last issue we learned about a Hidden Society that is an ancient group of wizards pledged to protect the world. This issue we learned about the origin of the Hidden Society and how evil was unleashed in the first place. Last issue we were introduced to wizards; this issue we are introduced to a group of warlocks named The Siblings of Nihil. And you know what happens when wizards and warlocks cross paths? It’s never a good thing! The wizard Ulloo takes the team he assembled near the end of the last issue-Mercy (there’s more to her than meets the eye), Laura and her daemon named Orcus (I didn’t know he could do that!), and Jadoo, the magician, who is scared of magic (an interesting twist to say the least)-to Italy to face the Siblings. And what happens next is that…you have to read the issue to find out! But it is so worth it. Man, I love cliffhangers!
The writing of Rafael Scavone leaves you wanting more and more. His storytelling is pure magic. Rafael Albuquerque continues his wizardry of the arts and Marcelo Costa continues his captivating colors. If you love wizards and warlocks, magic and mystery, and adventure and action, this is a series to add to your pull list. It’s magical mayhem!
Mom, you didn’t have to wash my dishes, I told you I would get around to washing them. No, it hasn’t been a year since I washed dishes. No, it hasn’t! Oh, boy.
