Daisy is ready to move on to her new job in London, far away from the terrible memories and horrible visions of the Herald, even though he’s gone. She feels like she can finally begin to move on with her life. But can she really escape it all?
Red Mother is one of those really well written horror comics that leaves you unsettled after each issue. Issue six definitely gave me chills. Readers have so much sympathy for Daisy, because she feels like a real person any of us could know. Her struggles, hardships, and nightmarish visions all feel like things we’re going through with her. It takes a lot of talent for a writer to really involve the audience that much, and Jeremy Haun does this exceptionally well.
Danny Luckert is a master of giving us some deeply creepy surreal monsters and horrific scenes, while keeping everything else looking very real. The success in Red Mother is how well the art of Luckert pairs with Haun’s storytelling – a power team in horror comics, that’s for sure. And as I mentioned in my recent review for Once & Future #9, Ed Dukeshire is a talented letterer that always brings great work to every project.
With a cliffhanger ending that truly surprised me, even giving me a bit of a chill, Red Mother #6 is definitely another great installment of one of the most haunting comics out there. Grab your copy of Red Mother #6 on July 15th, 2020.
